Ringette PEI Year End Awards Night Attracts National Attention

The 2007-08 Ringette PEI Awards Night this Tuesday evening has attracted National attention from Ringette Canada.   Ringette Canada will be in attendance at the Rodd Royalty Inn when the 2008 ADL/Sport PEI Certificates of Achievement awards are handed out.   The Awards Night reception is open to the Ringette community and starts at 6:30pm.   Awards will be presented in 8 categories, Athlete of the Year for Novice, Petite, Tween, Jr/Belle, Coach of the Year, Official of the Year, Administrator/Volunteer of the Year, and Team of the year.

Ringette Canada will be represented at the Awards Night by Technical Director Frances Losier. Ms. Losier will be making a presentation during the evening to all in attendance on the Long Term Athlete Development Ringette Model.   She states, ‘this is a very exciting time for our sport as we embark on a new approach to facilitate the optimal development of our athletes.   Participants will be able to take part in a self assessment of the current start of our sport.’   The evening will allow PEI parents, coaches, officials, volunteers, and athletes an early look at the new direction of the sport in the Canada.

Ringette Canada are also in PEI this week doing a site visit for the 2009 Canadian Ringette Championships that will be held in PEI April 6-11.   Games will take place in Charlottetown, Cornwall, along with satellite games in Montague and Summerside.
