PEI Teams and Players Attend Canadian Ringette Championships

Ringette PEI Season Ends on Busy Note
Ringette PEI recently crowned the 2007-08 Provincial Champions at the Pownal arena. Teams from Belfast, Charlottetown, and Montague all won Championship games. This concludes the playing season for these Associations although some Provincial teams continue for another week. Starting Monday, the PEI Junior team are participating at the Canadian Ringette Championships in Saint Albert, Alberta. The PEI team has a tough opening day when they play Alberta and Saskatchewan. Also at these National Championships in Alberta is Brittany MacEachern who was picked up by the New Brunswick Belle team after PEI was not able to attend; while Kendra O’Brien and Rachelle Law will play in the Open division with a Maritime all star team. These Championships conclude with the gold medal games on Saturday. While later this week, the PEI Tween team will be traveling to Longuiel, Quebec for the 2008 Eastern Canadian Tween Championships.
Following the conclusion of the Eastern Canadian and National Championships next weekend, the next event for Ringette PEI will be the Annual General Meeting and Awards reception in early May. Final dates and details on both events are currently being worked on as Ringette Canada will be attending and making presentations. Award nomination forms are currently on line at www.ringettepei.ca with a deadline date of 4:00pm Wednesday April 16th.
