Ringette to Crown 4 Provincial Champions Saturday

The final games in the 2008-09 Ringette PEI League will take place today at the Pownal Sports Center.   T he Charlottetown Ringette Association is the host for the 2008-09 Provincial Championship Day.   At the end of Saturday, 4 Provincial Champions will be crowned in the following divisions: Novice, Petite, Tween, and Junior/Belle.  

The first game of the day starts at 1:15pm in the Novice division with the Kool Katz taking on Coles.   Kool Katz swept all four games in the season series, outscoring Coles 34 to 21.   Coles has come on strong lately and this should be a great game to watch for up and coming players.

The Petite final is next for 2:30pm with Devils taking on Jones Cyclones.   Devils took the four game season series with two wins and a tie; with a goal differential of only one goal over the four games.   This is the game of the day to look for a tie at the end of regulation and overtime.  

The third game of the day is at 4:00pm in the Tween division with defending champion Kent taking on Thunder Jets (Saunders).   Kent took the very close season series four wins to three and a goal differential of only three over the seven games.   Look for this game to be a high scoring game as the teams combined for 92 goals over just seven games.

The final game of the day is scheduled to start at 5:30pm with McInnis and Gallaway.   McInnis won the four game season series with two wins and a tie.   Look for a low scoring game as the teams only combines for 29 goals over the season series.

The Ringette season is not over following this weekend.   The PEI Tween team will be travelling to Guelph Ontario next week for the 2009 Eastern Canadians Tween Championships.   Then on April 6-11^th, PEI will be treated to the best Ringette in the Country when PEI hosts the 2009 Tim Horton’s Canadian Ringette Championships.
